WHEN YOU USE AI WITH TOYS
Hello World,
Been a dad on a summer vacation is not that easy and playing with the kid is priority number one.
My kid saw a cheep Chinese robot on YouTube and asked me to buy one for him.
So I had an idea, instead of buying another boring toy maybe I will use my skills to build one myself.
That is exactly what I did.
I printed on my 3D printer a robot called Otto and wrote the program for him.

when the robot was working I asked myself how can I make this robot even better then just phone controlled.
Why not implement some brain in the robot?
So I did, I added OpenCV with face recognition and detection and added an API call to Azure Cognitive Services in order to add the classification to what the robot can see.
and the result? well, amazing. the robot is now recognizing my kid after taking some pictures of him and me.
he can react to the environment and play and move a lot depending on what he can see.
exactly like Cozmo
but with a price tag of around 25$
How cool is that?
If you want to create your own robot like this, I will be more than happy to share with you all the information that I have.
So drop me a line or go to my Github where the project is.
